Director of Cultural Affairs The Lilpop Sisters and Their Loves The four Lilpop sisters - Halina, Felicja, Aniela, and Maria - were exceptional women from an aristocratic Warsaw family, whose circle included internationally renowned musicians, writers, and artists, and the film examines their loves and relationships. The first part, Bohemia, evokes the atmosphere of prewar Polish intelligentsia, and the Lilpop family home on Aleja Roz. The second part, Exodus, depicts life outside Poland, the turbulence and difficulties of life abroad during the war. Finally, No Return presents the Polish community in the United States and Great Britain, and the efforts of the Lilpop sisters within emigrant organizations. The film also uses amateur films made by Artur Rodzinski, New York Philharmonic conductor and husband of Halina Lilpop; these films, over a 30 year span, record family scenes and meetings with world music celebrities including Szymanowski, Gershwin, Stokowski, and numerous others.
