Director of Cultural Affairs Piano-thon of Polish Pianists at Kosciuszko Foundation, June 22 at 7:30 PM, tickets $15. Jacek Zganiacz, born in Poland, received his early training in Rybnik where he studied with Prof. Irena Krzyszkowska. He continued his studies at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice under Prof. Jozef Stompel. While there, Mr. Zganiacz performed his first solo recitals as well as concerts with chamber groups and orchestras. In 1985 he arrived in New York to continue his piano studies at the Juilliard School of Music with Prof. Joseph Raieff. After receiving his Master's degree, he was granted both a Licentiate and Fellowship Degrees by the Trinity College in London. Mr. Zganiacz performs recitals and orchestral concerts, and accompanies singers and instrumentalists. He has appeared at Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall and Kosciuszko Foundation in New York, and Garden State Art Center in New Jersey, and Philadelphia's Ethical Society Hall. He has also been invited to perform at the Ostrogski Palace, the home of the Fryderyk Chopin Society in Warsaw.. Several times a year Mr. Zganiacz travels to Poland; he regularly performs Chopin in Zelazowa Wola (Chopin's birthplace) and at the Chopin Memorial in Warsaw's Lazienki Park. In 1998 Mr. Zganiacz toured Silesia with an innovative presentation of Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue with brass band. Mr. Zganiacz also takes part in "evenings of poetry and music" with such artists as Stephanie Powers, Teresa Budzisz-Krzyzanowska, Jerzy Zelnik, Janusz Bukowski and others. Besides music, Mr. Zganiacz holds several licenses and has over a decade of experience in the financial field. He also holds a commercial pilot and flight instructor licenses and hopes to launch yet another career in aviation. His recital on Wednesday, June 22, includes music of Chopin, Paderewski and Twardowski as well as Ravel and Liszt. All events take place at the Foundation House, unless otherwise noted.
