Director of Cultural Affairs Baltic Piano Trio with Henryk Melcer, Alicia Jonas, Panufnik and Faure on the program The Baltic Piano Trio makes its New York debut on Sunday, April 13 at 3 PM. Their program features the lush late Romantic Trio in G Minor, Op. 37, of Henryk Melcer (1869-1928 ; the bold Trio No. 1 (1934) of Andrzej Panufnik; the Piano Trio of Alicia Jonas, a Polish-born composer currently living and teaching New York; and closes with the Trio in D Minor of Gabriel Faure. Tickets for the concert are $30 ($25 for Foundation members) and include a reception with the artists afterwards. The concert will be recorded for broadcast over WQXR-FM 96.3 on Sunday, April 20 at 6 PM. Maciej Sobczak, violinist, has appeared as soloist, orchestral and chamber musician in Europe, Asia, and South America. He currently serves as Dean of the Department of Instrumental Music at the Conservatory. Jerzy Wujtewicz, cello, studied at conservatories in Kiev and Moscow, and has been on the Moniuszko Conservatory faculty since 1988. Bogumila Weretka-Bajdor, piano, studied at the same Moniuszko Conservatory, and has toured through Europe and the US. All events take place at the Foundation House, unless otherwise noted.
