56th Chopin Piano Competition: New York
Preliminaries will be held Friday beginning at 10 AM; they are open to the public and no ticket is required. Finals begin Saturday at 2 PM; tickets are $15, and can be reserved by calling the Foundation Office at (212) 734-2130.

Some twenty performers from across the US have registered to compete. The Laureate receives a cash scholarship of $5,000 and is invited to perform in several cities through the US.

Jury Chair is Ian Hobson, a Professor at the University of Illinois and a musician with an international reputation as a pianist, conductor, and teacher. He himself was a Kosciuszko Foundation Competition Laureate in 1974, and went on to win numerous international contests.
