Polish American Club of North Jersey
Program Description
The Polish American Club of North Jersey Scholarships provide funding of $500-$2,000 to qualified students for full-time undergraduate and graduate studies at accredited colleges and universities in the United States. Funding is for academic year 2009-2010. The selection of Polish American Club of North Jersey Scholarship winners is made by the Kosciuszko Foundation on behalf of the Polish American Club of North Jersey. This scholarship is renewable.

Eligibility
United States citizens of Polish descent and Polish citizens with permanent residency status in the U.S. who are active member of the Polish American Club of North Jersey in academic year 2009-2010 and have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Children and grandchildren of Club members are eligible. Only one member per immediate family may receive a Polish American Club of North Jersey Scholarship during any given academic year.
Selection Criteria
Selection is based on academic excellence, the applicant's academic achievements, interests, motivation, interest in Polish subjects and involvement in the Polish American community. Financial need is taken into consideration.
Application Procedure
The scholarship application period for the academic year 09/10 is closed.
- Application forms are available through January 14.
- Deadline is on or before Thursday, January 15, 2009.
- Submit a non-refundable application fee of $35 and all supporting materials to the Kosciuszko Foundation. Submit the documents as a completed packet, not seperately, on or before the deadline date.
- Completed Tuition Scholarship application form and Financial Information page.
- A personal statement. In detail, discuss your academic goals, career goals, and the major you are pursuing. Be sure to discuss your area of specialization.
- Two passport photos for publication purposes. Print your full name on the reverse side of each.
- Official transcripts for the last three full years of school work through Summer 2008. Fall 2008 course work will not be taken into consideration.
- Two confidential letters of academic reference from professors/teachers submitted on letterhead, enclosed in a sealed envelope and signed across the back flap of the envelope.
- Provide proof of Polish ancestry. Use birth certificates, passports, naturalization papers and other official documents to show the line of descent from the ancestor who was born in Poland to the applicant. Include a cover page outling your Polish heritage. If documentation is not available, a letter from a prominent member of the community verifying your Polish ancestry will be accepted. Letters from relatives are not accepted.
